Hospice Bereavement Services
When someone you love is on hospice care, your world begins to change. You start grieving long before they take their final breath. After their passing, the road ahead can feel confusing, heavy, and lonely. At Coastal Hospice, we understand that losing a loved one doesn’t end when hospice care ends. That’s why we’re here to walk with you—before, during, and long after your goodbye.
Grief is not a straight path. It doesn’t follow a timeline. For spouses and adult children who have been caring for someone at home, the emotional impact can be deep and lasting. You may feel sadness, guilt, anger, or even relief—all at once. These feelings are normal, but they are not easy to carry alone. Hospice bereavement services exist to help lighten that emotional load.
You Don’t Have to Go Through This Alone
At Coastal Hospice, our commitment to your family continues even after your loved one has passed. We offer a full range of bereavement services designed to support your heart, mind, and spirit. Our team understands that each person grieves in their own way, and we offer different forms of support so you can choose what feels right for you.
Our licensed social workers are here to provide a listening ear and compassionate guidance. They can help you process your emotions, connect you to resources, and walk beside you during some of the hardest moments. Whether you need someone to talk to or help navigating life after caregiving, they are ready to support you.
Our spiritual care coordinator is also available for those who want to explore the spiritual or faith-related aspects of grief. Whether you have strong beliefs, feel uncertain, or simply need someone to talk to about life’s deeper questions, you are welcome here. You don’t need to have a specific religion or belief system to receive support- we will work hard to find the resources you need to feel the connection and peace you need.
Support Groups: Healing in Community
Many people find comfort in knowing they’re not alone in their grief. Coastal Hospice offers two types of support groups—grief support and caregiver support. These groups provide a safe and welcoming space to share, listen, and connect with others who understand what you're going through, and both are free and open to anyone in the community.
Our grief support group is open to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. Whether your loss was recent or some time ago, being with others who “get it” can be incredibly healing. You can share as much or as little as you want—there’s never any pressure.
Our caregiver support group is designed for those currently caring for someone in hospice or adjusting after the caregiving role ends. Many family members feel lost when the daily routine of caregiving stops. These groups help you reconnect with yourself, talk through the changes, and find support among others on a similar journey.
Our Lending Library: Comfort Through Books
Some people find peace through reading, learning, or quiet reflection. Our lending library offers a variety of books and resources about grief, caregiving, and the healing process. Whether you want to better understand your emotions, help a child through grief, or simply read stories from others who have walked this road, our library is open to you.
You are welcome to browse, borrow, and take your time. Sometimes, the right book at the right moment can bring comfort in a way that feels deeply personal.
13-Month Follow-Up: Continued Care After Loss
Grief doesn’t end after the funeral. In fact, many people find the hardest days come weeks or even months later, when the world has moved on—but you’re still grieving. That’s why Coastal Hospice offers 13 months of follow-up support for immediate family members after a loved one’s death.
We check in with you at key points throughout the first year and beyond, offering support, resources, and reminders that you are not forgotten. These touchpoints are our way of saying: we still care. You are still part of our family.
You Gave So Much Love—Now Let Us Give Some Back
If you’ve been caring for a loved one at home, your heart has already given so much. The grief you feel is a reflection of the love you gave. And now, in this new chapter of life, you deserve to be supported, seen, and held with compassion. Whether you need someone to talk to, a quiet book to read, or a group to sit with, we are here.
Grief is not something you need to “get over.” It’s something you move through—and no one should have to do that alone.
Please reach out to us if you or your family would like to learn more about our bereavement services. We’re ready to listen. We’re ready to help. And most of all, we’re here for you.
